Many supply chain professionals, after receiving various professional education/training are still unable to effectively apply or implement the best-practices that they have learned. To implement genuine Supply Chain Management process for a corporation indeed involves a series of breakthrough changes to seamlessly integrate internal and external processes and partners. Breaking the internal functional silos and integrated external partners (suppliers and customers) require the following changes:

  • Corporate culture
  • Organization structure
  • Business Strategy and Rules
  • Process Re-engineering and alignment
  • Foster company-wide total quality culture to harvest the desired changes and sustain continuous improvement

The purpose of this topic is to advocate supply chain professionals to be aware of the following areas:

  1. Understand implementation of supply chain process is indeed a change management process – review and challenging traditions/assumptions, such as: organization structure, corporate culture, business strategy/rules, role and responsibility, functional silos, performance measurement system, internal and external long-term partnership….etc.
  2. Need to be trained and become an effective change agent as well as facilitative leader to diagnose problems, resolve problems, establish effective team works and bring in breakthrough changes through Business Process Re-engineering and Continuous Improvement process
  3. Foster Total Quality culture and establish strategic vision for the corporation
  4. Secure Management continuous support to sustain the change management
  5. Well-round educated in supply chain management related process and technologies, such as: MRP II, IT enabling systems, CRM, Chanel Distribution/Logistics…etc.
